Sensei Steve first started doing Karate with
Shihan Andre Gilbert’s organization in IKO-1. From the very beginning
he knew that his destiny was going to be to pass down the knowledge
that was given to him, for even as a yellow belt he often taught kids
classes when instructors were not available.
After training for several
years, he met Shihan Roman Szyrajew of IKO-3 (Matsushima group) and he
immediately knew that this was the person he wanted to learn from,
dedicate his training to and be affiliated with. He has trained with
Shihan Roman directly for several years and finally received his Shodan
in October 2002, (Certificate #F1704). He became one of the full time
instructors of “Seishin Karate” and taught classes regularly to
students of all ages and levels. He continued to progress and learn and
teach and in October 2004 he was graded to 2nd. Dan by
Shihan Roman (Certificate #F2322).
On Saturday June 9th, 2007, Sensei Steve was promoted to
the rank of (3rd dan) by Shihan Roman.
Sensei Steve is very active in all facets
of Karate. He has fought and refereed in many tournaments. In May 2006
he received his International Judging certificate from Japan
(Certificate #0053).
In August of 2004, he undertook the
arduous task of being school director for “Seishin Karate”, as well as
continuing to teach as one of its main instructors. Today he supervises a team of 7 full time black belt
instructors, teaches classes, trains and administrates the dojo’s
policies and practices.
