In 1999, after Shihan Pierre Latour's dojo burned down, he met Shihan Roman Szyrajew and has been training with him since.
In 2000, he redid sucessfully the grading for 3rd dan (certificate # F3050), and in 2003, he received his 4th dan (certificate # F4034).   He also received is International Judge certificat from Japan (certificate #0054) in 2005.  Through his continuous training and teaching, on may 30th 2010, after a grading of 7.5 hours, he achieved his 5th dan (certificate # F5065), under the watchful eyes of the president of the organization, coming from Japan, Kancho Yoshikazu Matsushima, and the Canadian representative, Shihan Roman Szyrajew.
